Early Childhood Education and the Capitol

I chose the article about early childhood education and legislature leaders because through the nursery I am hoping to incorporate education. Although, the childcare facility will not serve as a school, it will aid parents in helping their child learn some fundamentals of education. This includes, alphabets, shapes and colors, and basic tools to assist them with what they're learning at their primary school. Tutoring will also be avialable for those who parents request it.

The article just descusses early childhood educaton and its role on the legislature's agenda.

The Working Mother

I chose this article because it discussed the difficulties working mothers face. It describes how they are often discriminated against in corporate America and often face difficulty finding a job after having a baby. The article also talked about how mothers who become pregnant jeopardize their positions at work. Many male bosses do not sympathize with women who have to go on maternity leave and often find someone to replace them. It also touched upon treatment mothers face when they have to temporary missed work because of conflicts with childcare . The article is an eye opener of what really goes on in corporate America.

I chose the Web site just to give you an inside view of the conditions, trainings and earnings of child care workers. There once was a time when daycares weren’t really important. Most children went to nana and papa’s while mom and dad went to work. And school aged children went there after school or was babysat by older siblings. But now-a-days, more parents are turning to child day care services to keep their children while they work.

Play Dates vs. Cocktail

NBC had an excellent story on “The Today Show” that talks about mothers having a cocktail on play dates. I totally agree with what the woman are doing. Having a glass of wine with other mothers while the children are playing is harmless. Just as one commenter said, its okay for a man to sit around the children drinking beer and watching the football game, but when a woman drinks a glass of wine around the children she’s a bad mother. Often times at the game, mothers are forced to merge their social life with the duties of being a mother.

Super Bowl Nannies

The Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts played in the NFL Super Bowl in Miami, Fla., on Sunday. Many of the players wives brought along their nannies to assist with the children. While they partied and socialized with the other wives, the nannies entertained the kids.
There is an alternative. A babysitting service based in New York offers qualified babysitters to assist traveling parents. It is designed for parents who travel and are required to stay overnight in hotels. Babysitters come to hotels and sit for children while their parents are out. This is especially convenient for parents who attend meetings and conventions. Therefore, parents do not have to pay food, housing and travel expenses for nannies who travel with them. The Idea:

Being in the family room at professional football games I noticed a lot of children running around. Moms had one child in their arms breast feeding and another child running wild with other children. Everyone just looked after everyone else’s child: helping them get drinks out of the machine and letting them share snacks they had brought for their child. Mothers who decided to sit out in the stands with their children were often forced to return to the family room because the temperature had changed or the child became restless.

Therefore I came up with the idea to offer babysitting services, for player's families, located at the stadium. Families who live far from the stadium would no longer be forced to leave their child home with babysitters. Parents would feel more at ease knowing their child was within arms reach in the nursery. Upon arriving, they could drop their child off at the nursery and take their seat in stadium. At any point during the game they could go in and check on their child, especially during half time.

This would also be beneficial to mothers who initially decide to take their child to their seat. In the situation were the child falls asleep, becomes restless or the weather changes, mothers may take them to the nursery and return to their seats to enjoy the game. At the end of the game they would return to pick up their child and greet their spouses as normal.

This would be a perfect opportunity for children who are homeschooled or do not attend daycare to play with other children; epecially children whose father is also apart of the team. The relationships built in the nursery could lead to potential playdates.
